The Joplin Rotary Club not only "gives" to our local area, but also to the international community.
Here are a few of our 2007 efforts.
Wheelchair Foundation: The Wheelchair Foundation is a nonprofit organization leading an international effort to create awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical disabilities, to promote the joy of giving, create global friendship, and to deliver a wheelchair to every child, teen and adult in the world who needs one, but cannot afford one. For these people, the Wheelchair Foundation delivers Hope, Mobility and Independence.
International Exchange Program: Several of our members hosted business leaders from Romania to promote good will, understanding, and assist them with their economic growth.
Heifer Project: We give money to assist needing families in 3rd world countries to acquire cows, chickens, goats, etc. This provides food and a method of income in an effort to change the life of this family.
Medical Equipment Network: Assist in acquisition and distribution of used medical equipment to fulfill needs around the world. The district 6110 warehouse is located in Tulsa where equipment it is inventoried and sent overseas. We ship several containers a quarter.
